Absentee Voting

Minnesota has no-excuse absentee voting. This means you don’t need to have a reason to request an absentee ballot. You may fill out an absentee ballot and return it in person or via USPS mail to the Ramsey County Elections & Voting Office. Request an absentee ballot here.

Returning Absentee Ballots

If you have requested an absentee ballot, you can return it in two ways:

  • In Person: If you wish to return your absentee ballot in person, you must bring it to the Ramsey County Elections & Voting Office no later than 3:00 PM on November 8.

  • By Mail: If you wish to return your absentee ballot by mail, it must be received by the Ramsey County Elections & Voting Office by election day, November 8.

Want to make sure your vote will be counted? Use the Minnesota Secretary of State’s absentee/mail ballot lookup system to check on your ballot’s status, and whether or not it will be counted on Election Day. If there is a problem with your absentee ballot and it will not be counted, you may be able to remedy the issue and still vote early or in-person on Election Day.
